When:
August 9 - 11,  2013
August 8th (optional extra day)

What:

Learn techniques of modern quilting! At our summer camp we will be showing you ways to create beautiful modern quilts.

The optional day on Thursday will not offer any classes, just 24 extra hours of sewing time with some cool new friends!  You have to be signed up for the weekend to come to the optional Thursday.  There will be plenty of open sewing time (the sewing room never closes) so bring your own projects as well!  We will be sending you a materials list in plenty of time to get the fabric required for classes.

The classes we are offering are NOT required!  There is plenty of room at the Hankerd Inn to set up a sewing space or hang out with some hand work and chat with friends.  This is your vacation!  We all want you to relax and get things done (or not!).  There is enough space for everyone in each of the classes so if you do want to take all of them you can, no sign ups needed and no extra charge for the classes.

Classes:

Classes:

At this camp we will be teaching you different techniques for improvisational piecing.  Our classes will be taught by four enthusiastic modern quilters.

Amanda Jean (Crazy Mom Quilts/Sunday Morning Quilts) will lead us through her “slab” technique in which smaller scraps of fabric are sewn together to make a larger piece of fabric, to be used in additional patchwork.

Jacquie (Tallgrass Prairie Studio/Quilting Modern) will be teaching her “slice and insert” technique, showing us the many looks one can create.

Dan (Piece and Press) will show us how he makes such perfectly smooth curves (both measured and improvisational ones!)

Rossie (Fresh Modern Quilts) will explain her process for piecing circles and improvised pebble shapes using reverse applique.

Please note: camp teachers sew alongside the campers all weekend and are always happy to help with projects or chat about their favorite techniques.  The class topics were selected to give campers a variety of techniques and tools, but are not the only topics teachers love to talk about!

Feel free to bring books, magazines, and patterns for teachers to sign!  We will set aside time for this on Sunday.

** Fabric requirements will be sent out a month or two before Camp. **
